PCOD / PCOS

PCOD (Polycystic Ovarian Disease) and PCOS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) are common hormonal disorders affecting women of reproductive age. In this condition, the ovaries produce an excess amount of male hormones (androgens), which can disrupt the normal menstrual cycle and ovulation process. As a result, small fluid-filled sacs or cysts may develop in the ovaries.

Common symptoms include irregular or missed periods, weight gain, acne, excessive hair growth on the face or body, and difficulty in conceiving. Some women may also experience hair thinning and mood changes. The exact cause of PCOD/PCOS is not fully known, but factors like genetics, insulin resistance, and lifestyle habits play a significant role.

While there is no permanent cure, the condition can be effectively managed with proper treatment and lifestyle changes. Doctors may recommend medications to regulate periods, control hormones, or improve fertility. A healthy diet, regular exercise, weight management, and stress reduction are key to managing symptoms.
